As you know, DRM, as an open ITU-recommended technology, is the only digital broadcasting standard adopted by India. The DRM Consortium (www.drm.org) is proud to report that more than 900 million people can be covered in your country by those signals if operated in full-digital mode. As a result, a robust receiver ecosystem has matured in India, providing a strong foundation for the upcoming FM band digitisation. This is further supported by the fact that approximately 30% of new cars sold in India are already DRM-enabled, with an estimated 1.3 crore DRM-capable vehicles currently on Indian roads. And these cars can be software upgraded to DRM in FM.

It is, therefore, important that radio services in FM band too, using the already adopted DRM open standard, are digitised at the earliest.

Meanwhile, we are also kindly inviting all AROI members to take part in our pre-IBC DRM global zoom on September 8th or meet us in Amsterdam at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam. Please help us publicize this to your members.
